For three years students of Queerness in the Archives: Lesbian and Gay Writing, Art and Activism in Canada, 1969-1989 (McMaster University, Faculty of Humanities, English & Cultural Studies) have contributed to the development of the archives and explored issues in queer archiving by producing work based on the Michael Johnstone Fonds. Some of those projects are shared here with the authors’ permission.

To protect the privacy of individuals who may be referred to in the archives and, consequently, in student projects, and in response to increasing online harassment of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and advocates, access to these projects are currently restricted by password. Please email us at info@buildingthearchive.hamont.org to request the password.
